SOAS University of London

SOAS is a world-renowned academic institution forming part of the University of London and specialising in the study of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. SOAS is regarded as a source of high-level expertise on migration issues and is regularly called upon to advise international organisations such as UNHCR and the UK Department for International Development on policy.

The School offers two migration-related masters degrees: an MSc in Migration, Mobility and Development and an MA in Migration and Diaspora Studies. Its Centre for Migration and Diaspora Studies brings together staff and researchers from across the School who are engaged in migration-related research. SOAS is the lead institution for the European Union Trust Fund’s Research and Evidence Facility, a consortium (with the University of Manchester and Sahan Research) that conducts research on migration dynamics within the Horn of Africa. The GCRF Challenge Leader for Security, Protracted Conflict, Refugees and Displacement (and co-Investigator for the MIDEQ Poverty and Inequalities workstream) is based at SOAS. SOAS also hosts the London International Development Centre’s Migration Leadership Team.
