Caroline Nalule

Caroline Nalule is an international law scholar with special interest in migration, human rights law, citizenship, refugee studies, and regional integration in Africa. In 2018 to 2021 she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Refugee Studies Centre of Oxford University, working on the European Research Council Funded project ‘Refugees Are Migrants: Refugee Mobility, Recognition and Rights’. She conducted extensive research on refugee recognition processes in Kenya and South Africa. She holds a PhD in law from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, where her thesis was about migration rights of citizens in the East African Community. She has more than ten years’ experience working in the field of human rights and international law in Africa. She continues to work as a legal practitioner, a human rights advocate and independent consultant.
