Queen Mary is a leading research-intensive university, ranked fifth in the UK for the quality of our research outputs (REF 2014). Our academics are part of a lively and supportive research community who work closely with industry, government, business, communities and charities. The outcomes of our research are felt around the world but also inform the teaching you will receive at Queen Mary. The School of Geography at QMUL is internationally recognized for conducting theoretically-informed, empirically-grounded and politically-engaged research. The School is positioned fifth in the UK for the quality of research outputs (books and articles), and 11th overall – according to the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014), the nation-wide assessment of the quality of research across all departments and schools in all UK universities.

The Centre for the Study of Migration aims to facilitate, promote and develop interdisciplinary work on migration at Queen Mary. It hosts a programme of events, seminars, workshops and conferences through the academic year that explores migration from diverse disciplinary perspectives. The centre is committed to acting as a focal point in London for research related to migration and to offer opportunities to scholars of migration within and beyond Queen Mary to share and develop their work through participation in the centre's events and publications.
