Evaluation Adviser, Department for International Development (DfID)

As of September 2020, Richard Taylor from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) will be temporarily standing in for Pam Vallance, representative of the former UK Department for International Development.

Pam Vallance is an Evaluation Adviser for the migration and modern slavery department in DFID where she leads on the research and evidence portfolio and oversees a £3m independent monitoring, rapid research and evidence facility to collect evidence across 9 countries along Central Mediterranean Route and a £2m Independent MEL unit to support adaptive monitoring, evaluation and learning for modern slavery interventions.

She has over a decade of evaluation, research and learning experience in a variety of international development contexts. Pam specialises in monitoring, evaluation and research in fragile and conflict-affected environments having worked previously in the UK Stabilisation Unit where she advised on MEL systems for HMG programmes delivering in and on conflict and has research experience in: Somalia, Iraq, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Yemen, OPT, Nepal and India.

Before joining DFID, Pam led the Asia and Middle East monitoring, evaluation and research portfolio for BBC Media Action where she was Senior Research Manager, delivering research on governance, RMNCH and resilience across 14 countries. Pam holds an MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics, a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Research Methods and a BA (Hons) Politics from the University of Nottingham.
