The talk will focus on migration infrastructures by assessing the networks and routes that lead to the destinations and experiences of migrants from two Nile Delta villages. It will address the kinds of return investments, both material and social, back into the migrants' villages of origin. More importantly, it will illustrate how the two villages' specific social structures, historical, and geographic characteristics determine these migration infrastructures. This talk is based on doctoral dissertation research conducted between 2012 and 2018 in two Nile Delta villages al-Daqahliya and al-Beheira governorates.
